What interests me most about line are its subtle interactions with its surroundings.

For instance, when you view a volumetric form in a landscape, the eye tends to focus on the form alone, obscuring the landscape as it recedes into background.

Line viewed in the same landscape acts very differently.  Instead of receding, the surrounding landscape comes forward to interact with line, and an interplay of line and space constantly shifts with new points of view. Within that play, it is possible to conceive of space as an arena where countless elements are in relation to each other. Attention shifts from the individual to a community of forms, and to the space that enfolds them into a larger reality.
